Debate: Should Marijuana Be Legalized?

This month, don’t miss out on a very special Tempe Republican Women meeting. Marc Victor, Phoenix Defense Attorney, and Bill Montgomery, Maricopa County Attorney, will be facing off in a debate on Marijuana Legalization. Victor will be representing the side that is supportive of legalization and Montgomery will be representing the side that is against legalization.

TRW is very excited to announce that Shane Krauser, constitutional law expert, will be moderating the debate.

This will be an interesting and attention grabbing event. Seating is limited. First come, first served – although confirmed members and associates of TRW will be given seating preference at the front of the room. If you want a guaranteed seat, then now is a good time to join our club: Join Us. Membership is open to all registered Republican women in the state of Arizona. Registered Republican men may join as associates.

This event is open. However, TRW reserves the right to have security remove members of the audience at our discretion. Photography is allowed – video recordings of the event are not allowed. No exceptions.

Marc J. Victor has represented clients in more than a thousand major felony cases including first and second degree murder, sex cases, gun cases, major drug cases, complex white collar cases, federal appeals, and other complex state and federal matters. Jury trial experience includes several murder trials including death eligible matters as well as complex sex cases.

Bill Montgomery was first elected Maricopa County Attorney in a Special Election in 2010 and re-elected in 2012 on a pledge to fight crime, honor victims’ rights, and protect and strengthen our community. As a West Point Graduate, decorated Gulf War Veteran, former Deputy County Attorney and a professional prosecutor, he has dedicated his personal and professional life to serving others.

Bill earned his J.D. from ASU’s College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving the Order of the Coif. As a prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, he quickly gained a reputation as an aggressive prosecutor, later serving as a Bureau Chief of the Auto Theft Bureau, which recorded a 35% drop in auto theft under his leadership.

Shane Krauser is the director of the American Academy for Constitutional Education and widely sought after due to his expertise. He is an adjunct professor of constitutional and criminal law, a certified NRA firearms instructor, the chief instructor of K-Force Vanguard and a former prosecutor. He is also the author of Your Nation to Save and is a radio talk show host in Arizona.

Speakers this month, so far, include Matt Papke (former city council candidate), who will speak on the latest updates on the East Valley light rail development, and Andrew Munoz of Solar City, who will speak on the latest solar legislation coming through to our state.

We have some big announcements coming this month and you won’t want to miss out on this meeting.

TRW Meeting with guest speaker Donald Critchlow of ASU

February 24th, at the Pyle Recreation Center at Rural/Southern, please join us to listen to speaker Donald Critchlow. 6:30PM to 8:30PM.

Bring your questions and don’t forget that there is a TRW – After Hours discussion planned after the meeting. Meet us at Spokes on Southern at McClintock/Southern (just down the street from the meeting) to discuss what we learned and thought of the speaker, as well as to give us some social time with other members of the club. We will be there right after the meeting and at least until 10PM.

Critchlow was born in Pasadena, California in 1948, and graduated from Maryville High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from San Francisco State University in 1968 and received his M.A. (1972) and Ph.D. (1978) from the University of California, Berkeley. Critchlow was an associate professor of history at the University of Notre Dame, before moving to Saint Louis University inSt. Louis, Missouri as a professor of history. In the fall of 2010 he accepted a distinguished professorship, the Barry Goldwater Chair of American Institutions, at Arizona State University.

He is founding president on the Institute for Political History, a non-profit education foundation that sponsors the Policy History Conference, graduate travel awards, and other academic and historical projects.

Packages from Home

PFHSVG_Badge_Logo_200x200 TRW will have a packing party at Packages from Home on Saturday, January 18. Meet at the Pyle  Center at 10 am, and we will carpool.  (Correction, the meeting place has changed. Please email tempeazrw@gmail.com for directions to the new meeting spot if you planned to carpool.) Items needed for the soldiers are: 2 oz size Tobasco sauce,  individual packets of powdered drink mixes, and foot powder. Money is always welcome!  It costs  $14.85 for each box to be mailed. Meeting Reminder – May 20th – 6:30PM

Tempe Republican Women has invited Tom Jenney from Americans for Prosperity, Christina Corieri from the Goldwater Institute, and Don Hughes from the Governor’s office to speak on our panel discussion on the proposed Medicaid expansion. We are looking forward to the lively and educational dialogue to be generated from this event and we hope to see you all there!
