“It was a difficult session at the Arizona Legislature for free market activists in 2013.

While Americans for Prosperity and its activists were disappointed to see Governor Jan Brewer’s ObamaCare Medicaid expansion pass through the Legislature, there were many things to be excited about. We won victories for medical price transparency, school choice, and tax and pension reform. And many good Legislators fought the good fight against the Medicaid expansion.

To celebrate the conservatives who have found for limited government and sound fiscal policy in Arizona his year, Americans for Prosperity will host its Awards Luncheon on Saturday, November 16th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort . Our keynote speaker will be Stephen Moore of the Wall Street Journal, sponsored by the Leadership Institute, and we will present our Barry M. Goldwater Legislator of the Year Award to Senator Judy Burges, who earned the highest score on AFP-Arizona’s 2013 Legislative Scorecard. In addition, AFP-Arizona will honor those Legislators who earned the designations of Heroes, Champions, and Friends of the Taxpayer during what was one of the most contentious sessions in recent memory.

Our sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation, will present the John W. Dawson Local Hero Award to Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio for his tireless efforts to protect Phoenix taxpayers from high taxes and overreaching union power. AFPF-Arizona will also present an award to our 2013 Activist of the Year.

Tickets are $20. If you would- like to attend, RSVP to our Director of Outreach, Shane Wikfors, at 480-332-3440 or swikfors@afphq.org. Or, use our eventbrite link: http://JackalopeAward.eventbrite.com.
